ANTONELLI COLLEGE, GAMMA CHAPTER OF ALPHA BETA KAPPA NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY TO CELEBRATE 25TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Antonelli Colleges Cincinnati Campus will celebrate a very important anniversary in 2007.  In 1982 the Gamma Chapter of Alpha Beta Kappa, National Honor Society (ABK) was founded at Antonelli College by its current Chairman, Mr. Jim Slouffman Director of Education, Emeritus, then Campus Director, Mr. Ronald French and Dr. David Lockmiller, Co-Founder of Alpha Beta Kappa. From its humble beginnings in 1982 the Gamma Chapter of Ohio has left a distinctive mark on career education in South Western Ohio. For the past 25 years at its annual election of new members held in November, the Gamma Chapter has inducted over 1000 new members.

These new members have been inducted into ABK in recognize their outstanding academic achievement in the various Associate Degree Programs offered by Antonelli College. The National Headquarters of ABK has sent a formal recognition to Antonelli College for our 25th Anniversary and our remarkable success in maintaining a tradition of excellence at Antonelli College over the past 60 years. This will become part of Antonelli Colleges numerous awards and recognitions on permanent display at the Cincinnati Campus.

The Chairman of Gamma Chapter was recently recognized as the” Teacher of the Year” by The Career College Association of Washington D.C for his outstanding contributions to Career Colleges and Schools. When asked to comment of the Gamma Chapters many successes over the years he noted,” The pleasure one derives from challenging the new incoming students at orientation to rise to the level of academic excellence required to become a member of ABK is a thrill all its own.  However, to follow students progress over the years, offering encouragement and support until the dream of membership is finally realized and then recognized with the presentation of gold keys and certificates, now that is not just a thrill but a fulfillment of purpose!”

The National Headquarters of ABK offers to the public the following description of the goals and ideals of this prestigious society, “ABK is the only honor society recognizing excellence in the arts, the sciences, the trades, business and both technical and general studies.  It is also the only honor society in America that represents degree granting institutions, junior colleges, senior colleges, and student-centered private career schools.  The fact that an individual is elected to membership in this honor fraternity is claimed to set her or him apart as an exemplar of personal integrity and excellence.

Alpha Beta Kappa places Chapters in nationally accredited institutions that have demonstrated high standards over a period of many years in the education and training of women and men in the numerous fields, trades and occupations essential to modern society.  It is a mark of distinction for an institution to be awarded a Chapter of Alpha Beta Kappa.  The purpose of the society is to encourage and recognize superior student academic achievement, character and leadership.” It is truly an honor to be a part of the ABK family and the honorable work carried out each and every day at Antonelli College.
