Project Management Professional Training

The Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential is a highly valued credential in the project management field. The credential can help employers be confident that individuals with the PMP credential are dedicated to the field and are responsible for all aspects of a project. PMP certifications can help individuals lead and direct cross-functional teams to execute projects within the schedule’s timeline, budget, adequate resources, and demonstrate knowledge and experience necessary to manage well-defined projects.

Should I enroll for Project Management Certification?

The PDI’s PMP, PMBOK 4th Edition content is designed for current project managers who want to get certified in recognition of their skills and experience, or individuals who wish to train to become accredited project managers.

Prerequisites

Education and experience requirements:

  • PMI Candidate with Bachelors Degree – document a minimum of three years (36 months) unique, non-overlapping project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks.
  • PMI Candidate without Bachelors Degree – document a minimum of 5 years (60 months) unique, non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks.
    • Note: “Leading and directing project tasks”… as identified in the Project Management Professional Examination Specification.  Within the total hours of project management experience, experience in all five process groups is required.  Exception: Single Projects do not need to have experience in all five process groups.

PMP Certification Requirements

Candidates for the PMP certification are required to complete a minimum of 35 contact hours of instruction that addresses all nine knowledge areas and pass the PMP certification examination. Individuals awarded with the PMP credential must also display an ongoing dedication to professional development and log 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years.
