In-depth Dental Assisting training and curriculum

Our Associates Degree in Dental Assisting will prepare you to work in the dental assisting field. From general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics to pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics, many opportunities are available to a dental assistant. Our curriculum includes administrative training that will enable you to work in administrative offices, as well as clinical settings. We also offer evening classes for students who work during the daytime hours. An internship, along with more advanced computer classes, will help you enter the workforce with advanced clinical and clerical skills in the dental field. Successful graduates will be prepared to fill entry-level dental assisting positions.

Responsibilities with a Dental Assistant degree

Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care and office and laboratory duties. Our students gain the knowledge base to perform clinical chairside duties, including, but not limited to, charting patient treatments, applying topical anesthetics, placing rubber dams and temporary crowns, and mixing cements for molds. Students also learn to take and process radiographs in standard film and digital radiography. The programs also allow students to do many lab duties such as take preliminary impressions; study casts; pour and trim models; and make nightguards, splints and bleaching trays. Upon graduation from this Mississippi Dental Assisting degree program, students will have a complete understanding and working knowledge of OSHA regulations in infection control, sterilization and regulated medical waste.
