Antonelli College’s Patient Advocacy degree program is built on the same foundation as our Medical Coding and Medical Administrative Assistant programs to equip you with a solid foundation in medical terminology, procedures, and billing and insurance policies. Curriculum also includes anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and medical laws and regulations. You can become well-versed in medical procedures, patients’ rights and ethical issues.
As a patient advocate, you often are expected to be the voice of the patient and to ensure that they receive access to the appropriate healthcare resources at the right cost. Antonelli College’s program can prepare you to step into this role confidently. In our program, you can learn about important medical coding and billing procedures, insurance policies, and medical information. You can gain the knowledge and skills to be the patient’s voice as you work with various healthcare professionals.
A patient advocate plays a valuable role as a liaison between medical professionals and the patient. Patient advocates must be compassionate and able to provide assistance and communication to the patient during sometimes stressful and complicated medical situations.
